York County leads nation in jobs growth – again. And it’s not even close

Annual job growth for York County more than quadrupled the national average in the spring of 2017, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. York County had the highest percentage increase of employment of the country’s 346 largest counties in this year’s first quarter.

Kingsley Park to close out with final building that includes spec office space

Across S.C. 160 from Kingsley, Kingsley Park is adding its seventh and final building to the business park. Developed by Clear Springs Development Co. and Childress Klein of Charlotte, the park gains some much-needed speculative office space for York County.

A big shift in the future of Fort Mill

The arrival of the $500 million first phase of Kingsley has put the S.C. town on the corporate relo map. S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley brought more than an economic development announcement to Fort Mill when she arrived for a press conference in June 2014. The two corporate campuses she would reveal that day — the relocation of Lash Group and LPL Financial from Charlotte — also served as the catalyst for a major shift in growth for the town and York County.

Huge Riverwalk industrial building destined to be a part of new retail distribution?

A Florida developer is venturing into the Charlotte market for a joint venture with a Rock Hill company for a $25 million speculative industrial building. McCraney Property Co. of West Palm Beach is partnering with Riverwalk developer, the Greens of Rock Hill, for the 507,500-square-foot shell building, which is already under construction. Its site is in the Riverwalk Business Park.

Schaeffler still growing S.C. bearing plants as it completes $164M expansion in state

Fresh off a $36 million expansion that bought Schaeffler Group USA Inc.’s Fort Mill Plant 1 to close to 500 employees, the German-owned company believes that number will be closer to 550 by 2020. Pees says the key to that expansion — beyond a booming business for its automaker customers — is the workforce that Schaeffler has found in South Carolina.

S.C. Department of Commerce Announces 2017 Industry Impact Awards – York County Companies Snag Two of 12 Spots

As part of the 26th annual Industry Appreciation series, the S.C. Department of Commerce recognized its 2017 Industry Impact Award recipients during an event on Thursday, May 11 at The Hall at Senate's End in Columbia, S.C. Two of the 12 companies honored were from York County. Shutterfly was selected as in the large company category and Anderson Hydra Platforms was selected in the small company category.
